Raija has run over 50 Nordic Walking workshops and trained more than 100 Nordic Walkers ranging from 10 to 80 years olds in Eastbourne, Seaford, Brighton, Hove, Lancing, Hastings, Henfield, and Lee-on-the Solent. She has been featured in BBC1 Country File, Juice radioshow, Southern Radio Breakfast Show, Finnish Financial News,  Daily Telegraph, Brighton Argus, Eastbourne Herald, Cosport News and University of Brighton Web site News and in the ETC Magazine. She also exhibited and demonstrated Nordic Walking at the 50+ Show in Easbourne. 

Raija has also conducted six research projects with her students looking at changes in heart rate and energy consumption, loading on lower limbs and upper limbs, spinal movements and activation of shoulder and neck muscles during Nordic Walking and normal walking. The next step is to look at the effects of regular Nordic Walking in improving spinal mobility, joint pains, weight reduction and cardio vascular fitness and balance.
